Logging in for the First Time
- You should have received an invitation email with a link to activate your TO account. The email subject will include "You have been invited by <email> to Wavefront!"
- After you’ve setup your account you can access your TO environment via <cluster>.wavefront.com.
You can find your cluster name from the link in the invitation email. - OPTIONAL: If you have Single Sign-On (SSO) configured:
- Once you enter your email address in your cluster’s login page the password field will disappear.
- Click Next. You’ll be redirected to your SSO identity provider.
- Continue the necessary authentication steps at your SSO identity provider.
- Once you’ve authenticated, you'll be redirected and logged into the TO user interface.
How to Ingest Data Into TO
Note:
For TKG/Kubernetes, see the quick start guide here.
For TAS, see the quick start guide here.
Otherwise, continue below.
- After you’ve logged into your TO environment, click on Integrations in the menu bar
- Each of the Integration tiles listed here has a Setup tab that provides step-by-step instructions on ingesting data. Each Integration also includes a set of dashboards that will populate with data once you complete the setup instructions. See the How to Use Out-of-the-Box Dashboards section for more information.
- Let’s walk through setting up the AWS integration. Click on the Amazon Web Services tile in the Featured section
- Click on the Setup tab and then, the Add Integration button
- Enter in a name for this integration setup. This can be any name but it’s helpful to choose something that helps identify which AWS environment you want to configure. Then, follow the instructions on the right side to create a Role ARN and fill it in the specified field.
- Click Register
- You should now be able to see your setup listed in the Setup tab of the integration tile. It will look something like this
- Once you see the green checkmarks next to METRICS and CONTENT at the top, AWS data is successfully being ingested into TO. See the How to Use Out-of-the-Box Dashboards section below to learn how to explore the available dashboards for AWS data.

How to Setup and Use Out-of-the-Box Alerts
- Navigate to the Integrations page and click on the integration of interest.
Note: A configured integration will have a green checkmark on it - After opening the tile, click on the Alerts tab.
Note: Not all Integrations come with out-of-the-box alerts. Here is an example from the AWS Integration: - Click on “Install All”
- Once the alerts are installed, you’ll notice that there is now an “edit” link next to each alert. There will also now be an “Uninstall All” button.
- Click on “edit” for the alert of interest
- The only configurable aspects of an out-of-the-box alert are tags and recipients. We can ignore tags for now. Scroll to the Recipients section
- For the lowest severity level that you want notifications for, click on the + icon and type in your email. Hit enter on your keyboard
- Click Save in the upper right.
- When an alert fires, the notification will include a link to the Alert Viewer, which will allow you to investigate the alert. This short video provides a great overview of how to use the Alert Viewer.
